COPPA Policies
VARtek fully complies with all COPPA (Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act) regulations and further extends those practices to all users, not just children under the age of 13. VARtek urges all students, parents, teachers, and administrators using the site and other sites to become aware of Web sites’ privacy policies. All users are encouraged to become knowledgeable about what personal information is being collected on each Web site. VARtek takes seriously its responsibility to protect the users’ privacy. Information Collection and Use
VARtek is the sole owner of the information collected on the VARtek.com Web site. VARtek does not sell, share, or rent this information. School/school districts subscribing to our ASP service are the sole owners of their user information.

Registration
In order to use the ASP applications, users receive a login ID and password from a subscriber school/school district. During the initial setup, the school/ school district provides VARtek with the users names, schools and grade levels. This information is used to set up the users’ accounts. The information is not used for any other purposes and it is not shared with any third party. Users will not be contacted by VARtek for any reason. The subscriber school/school district manages the user information. The site collects no other information from the users. On the VARtek.com Web site, there is a Feedback Form that asks customers to give their name, address, phone, fax, and e-mail address when they want to give feedback about the site or company.

Orders
Orders for any products or services are not taken on our Web site.

Cookies
A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user’s hard drive containing information about the user. Use of a cookie is in no way linked to any personally identifiable information while on our site. Once a user closes the browser, the cookie simply terminates. For instance, by setting a cookie on our site, the user would not have to log in a password more than once, thereby saving time while on our site. If users reject the cookie, they may still use the site. There are no third party cookies being placed on the site.

IP Addresses
VARtek uses IP addresses and the user’s login to analyze trends, administer the site, and track the user’s movement. The log files include IP addresses, access time, domain name, pages visited, date, and bandwidth. This information is then available on request to the subscriber school/school districts. VARtek does not gather demographic information.

Sharing
VARtek does not collect demographic information and therefore, does not share any such information. If VARtek partners with an education-specific third party to provide certain services, information to these third parties will not be released except with the expressed written consent of the subscriber school/school district.

Legal Disclaimer
Though we make every effort to preserve your privacy we may need to disclose personal information when required by law wherein we have a good-faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with a current judicial proceeding, a court order or legal process served on our website.

Any time new policies are added, VARtek employees are notified and/or reminded about the importance the company places on privacy, and what they can do to ensure that the users’ information is protected. Finally, the servers that store the users’ login information are kept in a secure environment in a locked room. Only appropriate personnel have card access to this room. Site and Service Updates

Correction/Updating Personal Information:
If a user’s personally identifiable information changes, or if a user no longer desires our service, VARtek will correct, update, or remove that user’s personal data at the request of the school/school district’s contact person. This information would be provided to VARtek by the school/school district contact person and not by the user. If a parent wants to view their child's personally identifiable information then the parent should contact the school / school district.

Choice/Opt-out
It is not necessary for VARtek’s Web site to have a Choice/Opt-out policy as the information that is collected by VARtek is not shared with outside parties other than the subscriber school/school district. Also, the user will not be contacted by VARtek or any outside parties except for the purpose of issuing site or service updates or announcements. Vartek’s communication with the user will be for informational purposes only.

Notification of Changes
VARtek does not ever intend to collect any personally identifiable information other than what was stated previously in this policy. However, for the sake of this privacy policy, if VARtek does ever collect any additional information or decides to change its privacy policy, it will notify by e-mail the school/school district contact persons of the ensuing changes. VARtek will use information in accordance with the privacy policy under which the information was collected. The school/school district would have a choice as to whether or not it authorizes VARtek to use its information in this different manner.
